Share the Warmth Intl.(STW) Is a 501©3 non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, CA. Our primary focus is to aid the homeless community with basic necessities on their journey’s back to self-sufficiency. With the help of our global community & providing service on Skid Row since 2019, we have become more aware of the smaller community within the underserved that are at a higher disadvantage under impoverished circumstances - women & children. As such, we decided to create an extension of our organization that primarily focuses on the betterment of women & children worldwide. There is a silent stereotype/ unspoken taboo globally around periods that every woman has faced at some point. Our mission is to normalize this conversation since it is a normal human occurrence in every biologically female human. This lead us to our first International impact effort and it begins in Ghana 2022.

Period Poverty is the lack of access to feminine hygiene products, education & counseling around menstruation. Pads, tampons, and other feminine products are luxury items for most, if not all women in rural Ghana. A study done by Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology(KNUST) shows that 40% of girls in rural areas reported being absent from school because they did not have access to sanitary pads/ sanitary hygiene products. The study also suggests that 14–16-year-old girls are the most vulnerable due to a lack of proper feminine hygiene care & education. There is also a 20% import tax on sanitary pads in Ghana which most cannot afford. Some of the girls have no choice but to sell their bodies for as little as 5 cedis(~$1) to be able to afford a pad during their cycle, subjecting them to STDS’s & other reproductive health issues.

To tackle this issue we have decided to partner with Brave, another non-profit organization based in Ghana. Brave’s goal is to end period poverty in Ghana by 2025 and as such, we are joining forces to make this a reality. We will be hosting a 3-day summit in Ghana in 2022 called “End Period Poverty: Tackling Period Taboos”.

This Day party fundraiser is to help us acquire all feminine hygiene items needed for all the people we will be speaking with & provide funding where required to ensure a successful mission.

Your presence & donation will be impacting a community that is in extreme need, especially because menstruation is an inevitable & natural phenomenon that every woman experiences. 100% of proceeds goes towards the End Period Poverty efforts.

We are very excited to see you all and cant wait to expand more on this topic at the event.

Thank you for doing your part!
